In America they call it “Prom”, in the UK it’s called the “Leavers’ Ball”, in Ireland it’s the “Debutante”, in Western Australia they call it the “School Ball” and in other places they call it the “School Formal”.
It doesn’t matter what you call it, each of these events are the same thing for every senior grade high school student – the big formal celebration at the end of the last year of high school. Girls get to dress up in floor sweeping frocks and glitzy accessories, guys get to wear a spiffy suit and everyone arrives in style.
It’s an important moment in a young persons life to look back at the last 12 or so years and feel proud of what they have achieved. So whatever name you have for it, it’s all about having a fun night with school friends and celebrating!
