Last night, I saw an advertisement for the new season of Dancing With the Stars, the TV show where the usual suspects (the footy player, the actress, the muso) shimmy past Daniel MacPherson doing the salsa. In Spanish, the word salsa means sauce. Another word that comes from sauce is one of my favourite compliments for a girl: sassy (bold, impertinent and a little bit fresh.) Call me sassy anyday.
I’m not sure whether she’s the sassiest girl around, but Kendall Jenner (she's of the Kardashian family) recently modelled for Sherri Hill, a popular womenswear designer from Oklahoma. The show was in September in New York City. Kendall, 16, said she was “really nervous and worried about falling.” Fair call. This was New York Fashion Week. But whatever your nerves, the lucky thing got to model dresses by Sherri Hill. Kendall says she “loves everything” about the collection and has now become the face of the American designer to the stars.
And lucky Aussie girls on the high school formal dress hunt can now find original, authentic Sherri Hill dresses locally. They are stocked in Sassy Boutique, the fabulous store that promises an insider’s understanding of what looks amazing on every girl. The Sherri Hill designs are glitzy, fun, bold designs in both short and long styles (the short style seems to be very popular at high school formals now.) As Kendall herself said after the runway show, the dresses are “cool and different” and very “out there”. She made the point--as all good sassy girls know--that you can’t be shy about wearing a Sherri Hill dress. With all high school formal dresses really, confidence is key.
You can find Sassy Boutique in Melbourne and Sydney and expect a warm welcome when you visit. They love making the shopping experience fun and welcoming for you and your mum and friends. Sassy Boutique are a popular destination for high school formal dresses and stunning wedding gowns. As well as Sherri Hill, Sassy stocks gorgeous designs by Australia’s own Rachel Gilbert.
Maybe next time someone calls you sassy, you can take it as the giant compliment it is. It must be that you’re bold, fresh and more than a little bit saucy. Mission accomplished.
