This season we’re taking a note out of Jessica Biel's books and toning down the sleek winter shades and opting for some fresh summery looks. She rocked this tousled beachy look at the UK Premiere for her new movie "The A Team". The hair forecast is all about natural waves and curls (think Gisele Bundchen or Mary-Kate Olsen). It’s easy to get your own sexy loose waves using some really simple methods.
To recreate this Californian hairstyle you’ll need to make up some sea salt spray. Applying salt to your hair can dry it out if you don’t use a good treatment or leave-in conditioner beforehand, if you don’t do this, you could end up more Kramer than Kate Hudson.
Once you’ve treated your locks, get your hands on a spray bottle and mix up a couple of teaspoons of sea salt with some water and voila! You now have one awesome homemade sea salt hair spray that the celebs pay a fortune for!
There are two ways to create waves with sea salt. The first is for girls with a bit of curl or body in their hair already. This method is spraying onto freshly washed wet hair. Once your tresses have been doused with some of your spray curl your hair around your fingers to encourage a wave or curl depending on how the look you’re after. You can also scrunch your hair up with the sea salt to create a more volume. Your hair will need to air dry after you have spritzed your hair and curled and scrunched your hair up into loose curls. No blow-drying your hair with this product –it will go super frizzy with the salt. When your hair is almost dry spray an extra coat of the sea spray onto your hair to strengthen your waves and keep them looking LA lovely for longer.
The other way to create these curls is for girls who have straighter hair and who find it hard to pump up the volume without any heavy-duty product. For this method wash your hair at least 24 hrs in advance so your hair has some of its natural oils –these oils will help keep the waves intact for longer so your hair isn’t drooping and falling out of its curls before you even eave for the event! Comb any knots or tangles out because you will be braiding your hair into shape. Once you have smoothed out your mane drench your locks with your Sea Salt Spray. When you start to braid your hair keep in mind the more braids you have the tighter your waves will be and vice versa. Remove the braids once your hair has fully dried and apply some more of the sea salt spray to keep the wave intact.
If the curls are too severe for you liking just drag your fingers through your hair to pull out the wave and get back a natural look.
If you would prefer to get pampered however, you can look for a salon in your city here.
