On Friday night the ‘California Gurl’ was staying at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne and joined in on one lucky school’s end of grade 12 celebrations. She was partying with MTV Australia’s Ruby Rose and at 11pm walked into the formal. Students of the Melbourne school didn’t realise that Katy Perry and her entourage had gatecrashed the event until she walked into the centre of the dancefloor.
She reportedly grabbed a microphone and started singing along and dancing to Beyonce’s hit “All the Single Ladies” with the crowd of excited students. After a bit of booty shaking the DJ switched to Katy’s song “California Gurls” and the crowd got bigger and bigger when people saw the unexpected guest.
Russel Brand’s wife-to-be was on tour in Australia for her new album “Teenage Dream” and had a great impromptu performance even though she didn’t stay long. Ruby and Katy both tweeted about it later on in the night Ruby Rose saying “I don’t know whose year 12 formal it was but nothing was going to stop @katyperry from gate crashing it” with a photo and Katy put it simply saying “I totes just crashed a prom!”
Check out the video of Katy busting a move with some very happy Melbourne students.
