Can I wear a watch to my formal?

Alissa from Geelong emailed me this question and it really got me thinking. Are there any rules for girls wearing a watch to the formal? Of course it’s fine for the boys to wear their watch with their suit, but this question is for the girls.

I believe that wearing a watch is fine but it’s ultimately up to you. While you’re mega chunky black calculator watch might be a great accessory on a regular day to day basis, this style of watch might be distracting at a formal event.

Most girls get special jewellery for the occasion -whether it is from their mum, grandma or from their favourite shop. So watches are often left at home because it doesn’t suit the rest of the jewellery or the dress.

If you do get your hands on a watch that you can wear with your jewellery and formal dress then by all means wear it if you like! It could be a nice way to have something a little bit different and a nice way to keep track of time on the night!
