It’s all about the journey

So you know where and when the big night will take place, now you just need to work out how you’ll get there. Car-pool with friends? Get a lift from the parentals? Or make an unforgettable entrance – motorbike rides, an ice cream truck, the classic pink stretch hummer, a fire truck? If your school doesn’t have a helipad or you’re worried about your hair getting messed up because you have to wear a helmet on a trike, it might be time to look at some other fun options.

According to Simon from The Britstop, the party can begin well and truly before you even get to the formal. The Britstop is an original 1949 London double decker bus that has been transformed into a party venue on wheels. The Britstop is decked out with British posters and memorabilia, but perhaps most importantly it also provides seating for up to 30 guests, contains built-in eskies for BYO drinks (sorry, strictly no alcohol allowed), and iPod docks to get the music pumpin’! Additional decorations, such as helium balloons, can also be arranged by the team.

If you’re living in the Sydney area, this might be the mode of transport for you.  “The Britstop will travel as far south as Wollongong, as far north as Palm Beach, as far west as Penrith and everywhere in between.”

The team at The Britstop will do their best to cater for the individual needs of your party. They can pick you up from a location of your choosing, stop along the way for a pre-formal photo shoot, and make sure you arrive at your formal with a bang (it’s difficult not to notice a vintage double decker bus with music blaring). The Britstop also offers return trips once the formal is over – whether you and your group are heading straight home, or on to the after party if you don’t want the night to end. No need for adult supervision while on the bus as Simon, the owner/driver, will take good care of you (though please note he’s ex British special forces, so everyone on their best behaviour!).

Formal season is a very busy time of year, so Simon recommends getting in early as The Britstop works on a first paid first served basis. A tip from the people in the know is to gather money from your friends up front to cover the bond, and to only “invite people you know and trust.” The Britstop services and quotes for each formal differ depending on a number of variables, so please email or call them to discuss.
