Spring cleaning doesn’t only have to be for the house! It can also be the perfect time to revamp your hair cut. While you might not want to do an Emma Watson and cut all your hair off (even though Emma’s hair looks so amahzing like this!!) -there are some other trends popping up on the runways and red carpets that are a lot easier to wear. Alexa Chung is the ‘it girl’ of the season and is always right on trend wether it be with fashion, makeup styles (perfect winged eyeliner anyone?) or hair. We take a look at Alexa Chung’s luscious locks and see what spring time hair styles you can ask your hairdresser for.
The first is popular with a lot of celebrities right now. The balayage hair-do. Balayage is a hair colouring technique that started in France in the 70’s and the word “balayage” is French for “to sweep” (referring to the way the colour is applied). A lighter shade than the roots is applied to the mid sections and ends of the hair leaving the roots natural for a “dip dyed” look. Think of caramel highlights through the ends on a base of brown. Gisele Bündchen has been rocking this look for a while but more and more celebs like Rachel Bilson and Alexa Chung are jumping on the no fuss trend. This style is for any girl with any hair type. You really can’t go wrong with this look!
The other cut of the season seen on the red carpets recently is the “Lob” or the Long Bob -it’s not just Posh Spice that’s wearing this style anymore. Shoulder grazing celebs seen sporting this look recently are Clare Danes, January Jones, Gwyneth Paltrow and of course, Alexa Chung (she’s really mastering both of these looks right now!). This is a really easy look for girls with thinner and straighter hair but a bit harder to maintain for any girls with a lot of volume or spirally curls. The look can be transformed to either messy and grungy or primped for a refined and styled night-time look.
