Here is an article that one of our Guest Bloggers Emma wrote for us on the subject of school formal jewellery.
When it comes to your formal, it’s no secret that the dress is generally the main focus of the night. And why wouldn’t it be? Every girl wants to feel like a princess on the night in her beautiful gown. But if you want to sparkle like a princess too, it’s a worthy idea to spend some time looking at jewellery.
Depending on the dress, a standout statement necklace can look amazing. Dresses with a plunging neckline or one that flatteringly shows off your collarbone suits this trend best. If you’re going for this look, ensure your dress isn’t a printed or patterned one, as the neck piece will simply get lost in it. A simple block color dress will best highlight your statement necklace. If you decide to go for a statement necklace, don’t overdo the rest of your jewellery, as you don't want to over accessorise. Pick one key area, and focus on that.
The same principle applies to earrings, rings and bracelets. If you’re after dramatic, striking earrings, keep the rest of your jewellery simple to avoid looking overdone. With rings, you can either go with smaller, daintier pieces and stack these up, or go for one or two large cocktail rings to make a fashion statement.
If you want to ditch the necklace, ring or earring trend altogether and stick with cute bracelets instead, it’s still important not to go overboard. If you choose skinnier bracelets, you can get away with a bit of stacking action, however if you choose bolder, thicker bracelets, only wear a few pieces.
Of course, you don’t have to wear jewellery if it’s not your thing, but it’s your night to sparkle, so do it in your own true princess style!
