![]() Hair Care Leading Up to Your FormalTimeline
In the year prior to your formal
Start thinking about styles and whether or not you have to grow your hair. Hair grows an average of 3cm per month. Speak to your hair stylist about colour and the health of your hair and implement a plan to improve the condition of your hair.
Six months before formal
Start visiting your salon a regular basis for colour correction, trims and treatments. Purchase a home care package to maintain your hair in good condition.
Book your salon appointment for the big day.
Three months before formal
If you have purchased your dress, book in for a hair and makeup trial. If the style you like isn’t quite right, three months will give you plenty of time to get that extra bit of growth. You can also start thinking about how you would like your makeup.
One month before formal
Time for another visit to the salon to finalise your style. You may need to decide on some last minute conditioning treatments and check on your colour. If your school does not allow coloured hair, check what options you have with rinses.
Book in for a spray tan.
One week before formal.
Book in for your colour treatment. Now is also the time to have your eye brow wax and eye lashes tinted.
Three days before formal
Have your spray tan touched up
Day before formal
Have your hair shampooed and blow dried.
Day of formal
Make sure you allow yourself plenty of time for hair and make up.
As a general rule please DO NOT wash your hair on the morning of the formal, please do so the night before, however if you have extremely oily hair or any other scalp/hair condition please contact your stylist for advice.
